01.26 - Interior Painting (Lambeth)

Decorating the hallway of a flat in Streatham. This was uncharted territory for me, but I'd been told that Streatham is home to the longest high street in Europe. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if it was - that thing goes on more than my old boss. Despite the endless array of establishments on offer, I still defaulted to Greggs for lunch most days.

There was plenty of prep work to keep me busy before painting. The most pressing task was to sand all the woodwork and remove mess from previous plastering work.

Also taking care to scrape off old paint marks on the edges of these fanlight windows.

Here are some shots of the skirting, this was caulked to fill any gaps between the walls. I also stitch drilled and sanded this corner to tidy things up a bit. By no means a work of art, but hopefully one less thing to stub your toe on.

Some shots of the walls. The thing I loved about this client, is that he know exactly what colour he was going for.

Jokes aside, the pink with the white trim does look cute. Both colours are by Dulux: Berry Whip and Cliff Walk, respectively.

Some more shots with natural light coming in.

A couple of ceiling shots to show a repair of a crack in the ceilling.

It's remarkable how much this hallway changes colour throughout the day. In the morning and daytime, the natural light really brings out the pink. Whereas in the evening, the space looks pretty peachy (if I say so myself).
