I like to think that there could be many interpretations of this tune but ultimately it was born out of frustration. At the time of creating it, I was very resentful from working so hard and getting so little in return. I'm sure this is a feeling many have been able to relate to at some point in their lives, whether it's in a job, relationship, friendship or elsewhere.
A lot of people asked me if this was me singing on the record when it was first released. It's actually a Splice sample from a pack called 'Sad Indie' or something dreary like that (so still pretty fitting for me). The answerphone message that plays in the breakdown was recorded by my friend Emily who did an absolutely cracking job. I remember lots of laughs and voice notes being exchanged at the time of writing.
