Interior Painting - Dorset 05.25

Back in sunny Dorset to finish some other areas in the same cottage from my previous post. This time round was the landing, two of the bedrooms and the living area. Annoyingly, I forgot to get pictures of the living space but you can see the rest below.

I started by taking down what felt like endless picture frames in the landing. After creating myself a blank canvas, I could give the walls and ceilings the final coat they needed. The paint used here is Farrow and Ball's Fruit Fool in Estate Emulsion.

The landing doesn't benefit from much natural light, so initially I didn't notice much of the patchiness. However, once more light is added to the space, you can really tell the difference between coats.

I love this exposed beam above the doorway to the master bedroom. For reference, the doorway is Farrow & Ball's Cardamom, in Estate Eggshell for a slight sheen. (N.B. As of late 2025, Farrow & Ball started to replace their Estate Eggshell finish with 'Flat Eggshell'. This provides almost the exact same finish with 20% sheen but is supposedly more durable).

Moving into the master bedroom, all the client wanted me to do here was tidy up some of the woodwork. If I told you the white used here, I'd have to kill you. Mainly because I can't remember. I have a strong feeling it was All White though.

.

Finally, some touch ups in the guest bedroom. The worst offender in here was the ceiling, which you can see was quite patchy and in need of a final topcoat.

Some more angles. Again this is Farrow & Ball paint in this room - Pigeon, in Estate Emulson.

Some final tidying up around the switches. Annoyingly, I'd used up the rest of the white in the master bedroom as that took priority, but you'd be amazed at how giving the woodwork a quick wipe can really sharpen up the edges.
